Looking back over the month of December, I'm having a hard time picking my favorite Banter Bites.

You were a straight-A student, maybe you should just grade them.

There's no doubt that in December we were in the midst of what I call the holiday "silly season", which may be why the following are my favorites. Their titles were certainly a bit "silly" but hopefully they also made the reader curious. Looking back, even I wanted to refresh my memory of what these three Banter Bites were all about!

December 2: Ice Cream, Fish Sticks, & A COVID-19 Vaccine? – Only my sister, Black, could connect these dots into something that made perfect sense.
December 17: Vulcans Have It Easy – I know they're fictional, but this made me extremely envious.
December 18: Dogs, Dinosaurs, & Computers? – Tell me, is Black calling me an old dog or a dinosaur? Or both?!

Banter Bites

Wishing You A Merry Little Christmas

No matter what holiday you may celebrate, Red can’t help but quote a line from one of her favorite Christmas songs, “Have yourself a merry little Christmas. Let your heart be light. From now on, your troubles will be out of sight.”

And Black can’t help but point out that the song wasn’t introduced in a Christmas movie but in the movie "Meet Me In St. Louis."

It's Summer, So ... Fall In Love … With Corn?

This is one of Red’s favorite Banter Bites in large part because of Black’s “corny” puns, but also because fresh corn is a summer staple – whether cooked on the grill or in the microwave, whether eaten on its own or as a primary ingredient in refreshing summer salads …

This may be one of the corniest things you’ll ever read.

BANTER BITE BACKSTORY: It’s just a vegetable, so how can it possibly elicit such a strong reaction from Red, while, for Black, it’s more a source of amusement and even, it turns out, admiration?
